Abstract

Six insecticides viz; thiamethoxam, imidacloprid, acetamiprid, profenofos 40 per cent+cypermethrin 4 per cent, endosulfan @ 0.07 per cent and carbofuran with various concentrations were evaluated against shoot fly of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L Monech) The shoot fly oviposition, plants with eggs and dead hearts were ranged from 0.95 to 2.88 eggs plant^-1, 32.57 to 59.12% and 6.34 to 29.14%, respectively in various treatments as against to 1.78 eggs plant^-1, 35.76% and 48.96%, respectively in untreated control. Maximum grain and fodder yields were obtained from imidacloprid @ 1.2 per cent ST treated plots i.e. 27.59 and 91.67 q ha^-1, respectively and closely followed by thiamethoxam @ 0.75 per cent ST i.e. 27.50 and 81.92 q ha^-1, respectively.

Abstract

The field experiment on bio-efficacy of confidor 200 SL against sucking pests on groundnut were conducted at Oilseeds Research Station, Jalgaon during kharif 2000 and 2001. Three levels of doses of confidor 200 SL @100 ml, 125 ml and 150 ml per hectare in comparison with conventional insecticides, dimethoate and acephate were evaluated for their relative merits at 3, 7 and 14 days after spraying. All the dose of confidor 200 SL tested under field conditions were found to be significantly effective in reducing the nymphal population of thrips species and leaf hopper at 3 days after spraying recording 70-90% reduction in comparison with conventional insecticides, acephate and dimethoate. The infestation level of LH was not desirable at 7^th, 14^th days after spraying. It appeared that the molecule confidor 200 SL gave significant protection and proved efficient against the sucking pests, thrips and LH on groundnut during kharif season under Jalgaon conditions.

Abstract

Trichoderma harzianum was subjected for induction of higher tolerance against fungicides (metalaxyl MZ, benomyl and propiconazole), nematicides (carbofuran and phorate) and weedicides (diuron and atrazin) at different concentrations. The higher tolerance in the bioagent was recorded against metalaxyl MZ upto 0.5 per cent. While, benomyl was found to be most toxic to the bioagent where tolerance could be induced upto 0.025%. Similarly for propiconazole the tolerance could be induced upto 0.025%. However, Trichoderma harzianum possessed tolerance against carbofuron 0.05% was further developed for higher tolerance of the same at 0.2% concentration. But in case of phorate tolerance could be induced upto 0.05%. Likewise, the isolates of the bioagent were developed to possess higher tolerance against diuron and atrazin each at 0.2%. Therefore, these fungicides, nematicides and weedicides can be integrated with Trichoderma harzianum for the integrated management of diseases, nematodes, weeds and soil borne plant pathogens, simultaneously.

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during rabi cropping season of 2001-02 to characterize relationship of various meteorological parameters with sorghum shoot fly incidence. The serial sowing technique was used starting from 36th meteorological week to 44th meteorological week. Maximum per cent dead hearts on 14 days after emergence were recorded during 36th meteorological week (45%) when prevailing maximum, minimum temperature and morning and evening relative humidity were 33.1oC,22.1oC, 77.5 and 58.5%, respectively. Maximum per cent dead hearts on 28 days after emergence were recorded during 36th meteorological week (78.8%) when prevailing maximum, minimum temperature and morning and evening relative humidity were 32.7oC,22.1oC, 78.7 and 54.7%, respectively. The shoot fly incidence in the form of dead hearts was correlated with the meteorological parameters corresponding to the period of observations. The population dynamics showed significant positive correlation with meteorological parameters studied while dead hearts formation was not correlated.
