An attempt has been made through this study to know about the consumer preference for the creative innovative curtains in order to incorporating the latest information regarding innovative curtains by using computer technology. Twenty five innovative designed curtains were developed by incorporating various designing techniques /features using Corel Draw. Among the total of twenty five innovative designed curtains, the five designs were preferred by the experts. These designs were developed with the combinations of different designing techniques/features i.e. embroidery, patch work, shirring, Toran, cowl effect etc.Keywords

Herbal antimicrobial finish has been imparted to the wool fabric using methanolic neem extract by exhaust method. Finish was applied in tw/13o concentrations (3g/l and 5g/l) on grey as well as enzymatically scoured wool fabric and compared. The antimicrobial activity of the finish was accessed by quantitatively by AATCC-100 test method in terms of bacterial reduction. Effectiveness of finish was also accessed after washing the samples, using standard ISO: 6330-1984E with pre-determined number of washing cycles. Fabric strength and bending length was assessed using standard test method. It was observed that neem has been found effective against bacterial growth on wool fabric even after 20 washing cycles. neem treated scoured wool fabric showed very good antimicrobial activity than neem treated grey wool fabric. Tensile strength of treated sample was found to be lower than that of the untreated one. Fabric became stiffer after neem application and stiffness increased with increase in treatment concentration.Keywords

The present investigation was aimed to study the wardrobe planning among adolescent girls of Hisar and Gurgaon city. The study revealed that most of the girls preferred cotton clothes with mean score (2.70 and 2.80) from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively. Purchasing of clothes is done mostly from fixed price shop and shopping malls with mean score of 2.18 and 2.12 from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively. Majority of the respondents purchase clothes whenever there was a 'marriage in the family' and 'whenever required' with mean score of 2.68 and 2.77 from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively. The important factors considered during clothing selection were colour combination with mean score 2.68 and 2.70 from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively.Keywords

The present study was conducted in Hisar city to assess the consumer'ss preferences as well as awareness about the cotton fabrics and their opinion regarding the developed UV protective and antibacterial finished fabrics. Thirty married females in the age group of 30-45 were purposively selected. The data revealed that consumers highly preferred cotton fabric for summer wear due to its comfort properties. Majority of the respondents (93.30%) were aware of 'wrinkle resistant' finish applied on cotton fabrics, followed by 'antiodor finish (13.3%), antibacterial finish (6.6%) whereas none of the respondents was aware about the 'UV protective' finish. Consumers' preferences regarding the developed finished fabrics showed acceptance of its use for apparel purpose being finished with UV protective and antibacterial finish.Keywords

Asian Journal of Home Science, Vol 12, No 1 (2017), Pagination: 201-204Abstract
The present study was conducted in Hisar and Gurgaon city to assess the consumer’s preferences about theme based designing for home furnishings. Fifty consumers from each city (Hisar and Gurgaon) were selected purposively, which constituted a total sample of hundred consumers. The consumers were the ultimate users of home furnishings. The data revealed that majority of the respondents (81.00%) were not awared or had no idea about theme based home furnishings but they decorate the area of home according with the matching interiors (63.00%). Consumers ( 2.59 Xw ) preferred the area for theme based home furnishings were drawing cum lounge area followed by lounge area and drawing room because family members generally relax, socialize in this area and use it for leisure and informal entertainment. Ten theme based design line were created for home furnishings by using different designing software’s in 2D and 3D rendering in virtual design drawing cum lounge area.Keywords

Home furnishings are one of the most demanding and emerging fields, full of scope of innovation and creativity. Consumer choices in home decoration keeps on changing from time to time, due to changing fashion trends as well as need for comfortable home environment. So there is a great demand for theme based designing. An attempt was made through this study. Ten theme based design line were created for home furnishings by using different designing software’s in 2D and 3D rendering in virtual design drawing cum lounge area. Themes include Black and white (accented neutral colour scheme), contemporary with polka dots, Floral, Natural botanical, Ocean, Silhouette, Sunrise, Traditional, Tribal and Zodiac.Keywords
