Abstract

In today's global scenario, an effective employer brand is essential for competitive advantage. The art and science of employer branding is therefore concerned with the attraction, engagement and retention of initiatives targeted at enhancing the company's employer brand. "India, Inc."- a common term used in India to refer to India's corporate sector which aims to positively build on opportunities as the world economy strengthens, and the employer brand is a prime example of a progressive HR practice in India. Minchington (2005) defines employer brand as "the image of an organization as a 'great place to work' in the mind of current employees and key stakeholders in the external market". The increasing focus on competitive advantage is leading many firms to rethink on their employer brand. The current economic slowdown and the pressure to cut costs and increase productivity have made the need to get the best people in the right jobs even more crucial. The key to this issue is to align the brand with the company's business plan, meaning the brand is designed to attract and retain the kinds of people the company wishes most. Employer branding helps companies to attract and retain high performing employees.

Abstract

Business have learnt that employee orientation plays a very important role in the development and performance of an employee. Managers often assume incorrectly that workers have the same work ethic and knowledge of the workplace that they do. They presume that people know what is expected out of them. But the real fact is employees need to know not only how to carry out their duties but also the organization's policies, procedures and expectations before they take up their responsibilities. Thus New Employee Orientation (NEO) is an important phase for all companies to offer. The orientation process familiarizes new employees with company rules, regulations, people and the office layout. A new-employee orientation program will help new employees feel welcome and become adjusted quickly to a new work environment. Though orienting employees properly to their new work place is time consuming process, it is considered to be a wise investment of time which will reward the company with more productive and satisfied employees in the long run.

Abstract

India is seen as the "land of prospect" by many multinational corporations, and they bring the life of their employer brand to India. "Almost every Fortune 500 company is setting up operations in India that will be integral to its global value chain. The rush by the multinationals to set up Indian operations and the rapid growth of Indian outsourcing companies has resulted in a war for talent," explains Nirmalya Kumar in India unleashed. A successful talent management requires an effective employer brand during both in a recession or a growing economy. Recruiting and retaining the right person is not easy. High-quality talent is expensive and in demand. In today's global scenario, an effective employer brand is essential for competitive advantage. The increasing focus on competitive advantage is leading many firms to rethink on their employer brand. The current economic slowdown and the pressure to cut costs and increase productivity have made the need to get the best people in the right jobs even more crucial. The key to this issue is to align the brand with the company's business plan, meaning the brand is designed to attract and retain the kinds of people the company wishes most. Therefore the present paper attempts to highlight the concept of employer branding, creating a brand, need for employer branding, various methods of employer branding, process of employer branding and successful branding strategies of some top attractive companies.

Abstract

In today's work scenario, when the whole world is dealing with the problem of economic crisis, most employees have to handle too much work pressure in order to secure their jobs. In their effort of coping with the challenges that they have to face while working, there have been many people who are complaining about being stressed out. Though it is believed that a little bit of stress is necessary to make employees work and achieve their goals, too much of it actually leads to decrease in quality of work as well as employee productivity. Stress at work is also said to be responsible for giving rise to physical as well as emotional problems. The nature of work has gone through drastic changes over the last century and it is still changing at whirlwind speed. Stress is an inevitable part of our corporate lives. Considering all the bad results of stress, companies are conducting various programs and trainings regarding stress management at the workplace. Moreover, if the person does not learn to handle the stress experienced at work, it starts taking a toll on his/her personal life, giving rise to a whole set of problems at the home front too. Hence this paper attempts to study the ways of handling stress at work, the causes of stress in the workplace and some simple techniques that will help a person to get their attention away from stress, thus making their less stressed out.
