Three simple, precise and economical UV methods have been developed for the determination of Granisetron hydrochloride in pure and it's pharmaceutical dosage forms. Granisetron hydrochloride has the absorbance maxima at 302 nm (Method A) in phosphate buffer (pH 7.0). The quantitative determination of the drug was carried out using the first order derivative, values measured at 241.5 nm (Method B) and Area under Curve (AUC) for analysis in the wavelength range of 299-305 nm (Method C). Calibration graph constructed at 302 nm was linear in concentration range of 2-10 μg/ml with correlation coefficient 0.9994. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the determination of Granisetron hydrochloride in commercial tablet preparation. Results of the analysis were validated statistically and by recovery studies and were found to be satisfactory.
