The present investigation was carried out at the Instructional Farm, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) during Kharif season, 2012. The experiment was conducted in Vertisol field. The Soil of experimental field's soil exhibited neutral reaction (pH 7.34), EC 0.26 (dSm-1), medium status of organic C (0.58 %), low in available N (273 kg ha-1), medium in P (14.78 kg ha-1), high in K status (616 kg ha-1) and sufficient level in micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn). The experiment was laid out in Split Plot Design having three fertility levels as main plots and twelve rice genotypes as sub plot. Treatments were replicated thrice. The fertility levels were taken as low fertility level (00:00:00 kg ha-1N:P:K),medium fertility level (45:30:20 kgha-1N:P:K) and high fertility level (90:60:40 kg ha-1N:P:K) and treatments under sub plots as rice genotypes namely IR-83388-B-B-108-3, IR-83388-B-B-129-3, IR-82589-B-B-84-3, IR-83383-B-B- 129-4, R-RF-65, IR-83377-B-B-93-3, R-RF-69, IR-83383-B-B-141-2, IBD-I (Local entry), R-RF-85 (Local entry), IR-64 and MTU-1010. Yield of different rice genotypes significantly increased with increasing level of fertility from low to high. Rice genotypes, R-RF-65, IR-83383-B-141-2, IR-83377-B-B-93-3, IR-83383-B-B-129-4, IR-83388-B-B-129-3, IR-83388-B-B-108-3, R-RF-69, MTU- 1010, IR-64 and IR-82589-B-B-84-3 were recorded higher growth and yield attributes for grain and straw yields.Keywords

A study was conducted to assess available nutrient status of soils of Navagarh block in Chhattisgarh by GIS technique. Grid based surface (0-15 cm) drawn from the farmers' fields were analysed for their fertility status and mapped by geographic information system (GIS) technique from 125 villages of Navagarh block.The soil samples were analyzed for pH, EC, OC, N, P, K, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn. The soil pH varied from 4.8 to 8.0 (mean 5.93) and indicated that soils were found to be moderately acidic to slightly alkaline in reaction. The electrical conductivity of soil water suspension ranged from 0.04 to 0.98 dS m-1 with a mean value of 0.20 dS m-1 and all soil samples under normal range (-1).The mean value of organic carbon was 0.55 per cent and about 90 per cent soils of this block comes under medium fertility group. The soils were low in available N content. It ranged from 87to 399 kg ha-1 with an average of 258 kg ha-1. The status of available phosphorus varied from 1.52 to 29.33 kg ha-1 with a mean value of 12.88 kg ha-1. The 96.82 per cent village soil samples from the study area can be classified as low fertility class. Nutrient index values were in low fertility class except 8 villages for N and 44 villages for P comes under medium nutrient index value. The available potassium varied from 88 to 503 kg ha-1 with a mean value of 279 kg ha-1.The more than 90 per cent soil samples were classified as medium to high fertility class. The available iron, manganese, copper and zinc content ranged from 0.44 to 91.6 mg kg-1 (mean 25.47 mg kg-1), 0.32 to 84.4 mg kg-1 (mean 29.90 mg kg-1) and 0.16 to 28.1 mg kg-1 (mean 2.56 mg kg-1), 0.02 to 10.84 mg kg-1 (mean 1.61 mg kg-1), respectively in soil of Navagarh block. Most of soil samples were found in sufficient levels of Fe, Mn and Cu but 32.21per cent soil samples were deficient in Zn content. Soil nutrient index of overall soils group were found in low fertility class of nitrogen and phosphorus and high fertility class with respect to potassium. Most of the area of Navagarh block was covered by LLM, LLH and LMH categories.Keywords

Grid based (GPS) surface (0-15 cm) soil samples by systematic survey were collected from 87 villages in Baloda block where 1003 samples were identified from Inceptisol. These soil samples were analyzed for N, P and K and categorized as low medium and high as per criteria followed in the soil testing laboratory. Based upon the coefficient of correlation between macronutrients and soil properties, a significant and positive correlations observed between soil pH and available N, P, K. Electrical conductivity exhibited significant and positive relationship with available N, P, K and organic C showed significant and positive correlation with available N and K.Keywords
