Unit Size and Economic Efficiency in Small Scale Washing Soap Industry in India

Whether small scale industry is relatively inefficient as compared with large scale industry has been examined in many earlier studies. But very little attention has been paid to variations in size and efficiency within the small scale sector, although this question is of considerable significance in the formulation of development policies for small scale industry. This aspect is analysed in the present paper in respect of small scale washing soap industry in India.
