Dhananjaya Ramchandra Gadgil (1901-1971)

Professor D. R. Gadgil, the first Director of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, died of heart failure in the morning of 3rd May 1971 on the train on his way from Delhi to Bombay. He conceived, founded and developed the Institute to its present size.
