Factual Basis of Labour Policy in India
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The paper is concerned with showing that though maintenance of industrial peace through the operation of tripartite consultative machinery is the basis of labour policy in India, it has neither been established that industrial disputes are in fact important hindrances to production and growth, nor been established that consultation reduces industrial deputes. It is indicated that the total direct loss through man-days lost through industrial disputes is likely to be of the order of 2.0 per cent of ihe total loss of production and is dimensionally lower even than the loss caused by accidents and morbidity.
