The investigation was carried out in Dharsiwa block, Raipur district of Chhattisgarh state in 2010-2011, to assess the level of knowledge and extent of adoption of recommended practices of chilli production technology. From the selected block, twelve villages and from each village ten chilli growing farmers who were growing chilli for at least last two years were selected. Data were recorded through interview schedule and analyzed to use appropriate statistical methods. The study revealed that the maximum (38.33%) respondents had medium level of overall knowledge about chilli production technology. Whereas practice wise majority (55.00%) of the respondents had high level of knowledge regarding recommended field preparation, majority (52.50%) of the respondents had medium level of knowledge regarding irrigation management, and majority (50.83%) of the respondents had low level of knowledge regarding recommended weed management, while 43.33 per cent respondents had low extent of adoption about recommended chilli production technology. So far as practice wise extent of adoption is concerned, maximum (32.50%) respondents had high extent of adoption regarding recommended field preparation, majority (50.00%) of the respondents had medium extent of adoption regarding irrigation management and majority (59.17%) of the respondents had low level of extent of adoption regarding recommended weed management practices.Keywords

The present study was conducted in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh to assess the job performance of selected village panchayat leaders. The findings of this study revealed that the majority (74.36%) of the village panchayat leaders had medium level of overall job performance. The social job performance of village panchayat leaders shows that the majority (73.08%) had medium level. The majority (77.56%) of the village panchayat leaders had medium level of economical job performance. The majority (76.28%) of the village panchayat leaders had medium level of developmental job performance. Majority (65.38%) of the village panchayat leaders had medium level of decisional job performance. Majority (67.31%) village panchayat leaders had medium level of policy making job performance. Majority (73.08%) of the respondents had medium level of political job performance.Keywords

The higher production target of farmers has led to higher consumption of inorganic inputs like chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, etc., which results several unwanted problems for the humans. Organic farming plays an important role in Indian agriculture. The study was conducted in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh state during 2008-09. Kanker district has 7 blocks, out of which, 3 blocks namely Kanker, Narharpur, Antagarh, were selected purposively because the majority of tribal farmers are practicing organic farming in these blocks. From each block 40 tribal farmers were randomly selected hence, a total 120 respondents were interviewed personally through well structured interview schedule. Data were analyzed through using appropriate statistical methods viz., average, mean, frequency, percentage, standard deviation, correlation and multiple regression etc. Majority (55.00%) respondents had medium level of overall adoption, under the practices wise adoption, maximum 25.00 per cent of the respondents had high level of adoption of selection of land and land preparation, majority (90.00%) had medium level of adopted recommended seed sowing method and seedling preparation, maximum (41.67%) number of the respondents had low level of adoption regarding storage practices of paddy.Keywords

The present study was carried out in Bastar plateau of Chhattisgarh. Bastar plateau having total 7 districts. Out of which 2 district i.e. Bastar and Dantewada were selected purposively for this study. The study aims to assess the marketing channel of tamarind in Bastar plateau. A survey was conducted to assess the marketing channel of tamarind in selected. The survey was consisted of primary data from semi structured and pre tested interview schedule of selected respondents involved in collection and marketing of tamarind. The primary data for this study were collected from 100 respondents from the selected districts. The study findings of the study revealed that 58 per cent of the respondents preferred Channel IV (Producer→Village trader → Wholesaler → Retailer → Consumer) for the selling of their produce. A total of 620 tamarind trees owned by selected respondents and they produce total 1856.2qt tamarinds. From total produce, 54.80 per cent produce were sold through channel IV (Producer→Village trader → Wholesaler → Retailer → Consumer). The results of the study revealed that highest total marketing margin Rs. 3455.50/- were received from channel IV.Keywords
