The age of men and women, education of men and women, type of family of women, occupation of men and women, annual income of men, land holding of man, farming experience of men and women, social participation of men and women, innovativeness of men and women, training received by men and women, economic orientation of men and women, scientific orientation of men and women, risk orientation of men and women, management orientation of men and women, progressivism of women and achievement orientation of men and women, had highly significant correlation with their involvement in paddy cultivation while, progressivism of men was found significant with their involvement in paddy cultivation. Incase of annual income and land holding of women had negative but highly significant association with their involvement in paddy cultivation. However, age of men and training received and education of women were found significant. Incase of family type of men, annual income of women and land holding of women was negative but significantly associated with their involvement in sugarcane cultivation.Keywords

The problem refers to the item of difficulty perceived by gender that had carrying out the paddy and sugarcane crops cultivation. Many improved crops cultivation technologies were evolved but due to certain reason farmers are not able to perform it efficiently. Considering this as bottleneck, investigator had tried to find out the crusial problems which prevent the gender to perform various roles as well while taking decision in paddy and sugarcane crops cultivation. The various problems which faced by them were gathered from the respondents. The non-availability of labour in time was reported as major problem by men and ranked first followed by, non-availability of critical inputs got second rank, lack of security scored third rank, lack of skilled labour ranked fourth, extensive work load ranked fifth, unfavourable weather condition ranked sixth, lack of finance ranked seventh, lack of scientific knowledge ranked eighth, lack of moral support ranked ninth, lack of interest got tenth rank, lack of social support ranked eleventh, lack of confidence ranked twelfth, non-availability of implements in time ranked thirteenth and scarcity of irrigation and lack of foresight to conduct the operation ranked fourteenth. The present study was conducted in Southern region of Gujarat state. 40 villages were identified from two districts (20 from each) on the basis of highest number of water user associations (WUAs) for the present study. Ex-post facto research design was used and 200 sample size was drawn out by using proportionate random sampling method. The data were collected through personal interview method. The result shows that higher irrigation charges recover by the WUAs was reported as major constraint by the beneficiaries and ranked first followed by biasness in distribution of irrigation water by some committee members got second rank and inadequate supply of irrigation water to the tail enders ranked third. Whereas proper management should be done to reduce the irrigation water charges was reported as major suggestion and ranked first followed by supervision should be done to reduce biasness in water distribution got second rank and deprivation of irrigation water should be reduced at tail ends by proper management ranked third.Keywords

Present study was conducted in year of 2008-09 to study the personal characteristics, socio-economic, psychological and situational characteristics of agro-service providers and Beneficiaries in Gujarat State. The study concluded that, by and large, majority of the agro-service providers and beneficiaries were in the middle age group, secondary level of education, medium size family, farming + animal husbandry + business as their major occupations, medium level of annual income, medium land holding, membership in one organization, medium level of farming experience, medium level of innovativeness, medium level of overall modernity, medium level of economic orientation, medium level of scientific orientation medium level of risk orientation, medium level of management orientation, medium level of progressivism, favourable attitude towards their enterprise, medium level of knowledge of their enterprise, medium level of information input and processing behaviour, medium level of sales and purchasing behaviour.Keywords
