Parturient with Kyphoscoliosis and Bilateral Poliomyelitis Posted for Emergency Caesarean Section-An Anaesthetic Challenge
Pregnancy along with deformities of costovertebral skeletal structure challenges our technique of anaesthesia. Poliomyelitis is a neuromuscular disorder caused by poliovirus (enterovirus). Poliomyelitis is the major cause of secondary kyphosis in India. Kyphoscoliosis is characterised by progressive deformity of spine consisting of lateral and posterior curvature.
