Death after Modified Radical Mastectomy: An Enigma?

Dextran 40 is being used by some surgeons perioperatively during breast surgery to prevent thromboembolism and flap necrosis. We present here an unusual caseof death after modified radical mastectomy.  She had been infused intraoperatively with Dextran 40.
