Anaesthetic Management for Emergency Caesarean Section in a Patient with Patent Ductus Arteriosus
Congenital heart disease (CHD) an important cause of maternal morbidity and mortality during pregnancy. The prevalence of clinically significant cardiac disease in pregnancy is 0.1 to 4.1% of which CHD accounts for 70 to 80 %. PDA is rarely diagnosed in Adults. Moderate to large PDA results in significant volume overload, left ventricular dilation and dysfunction. Pregnancy may precipitate heart failure. We report a case of PDA with PIH posted for Emergency LSCS, managed successfully in our institute.
