A Case of Intraoperative Fatal Pulmonary Thromboembolism in a Patient undergoing Hip Hemi-Arthroplastyunder Subarachnoid Block
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and its most feared complication, pulmonary embolism(PE) poses high risk in the perioperative period1, because of prolonged immobilisation, underused prophylactic measures for prevention, and other associated risk factors.DVT is still considered the most common preventable cause of death among hospitalised patientsand among the patients undergoing lower limb surgeries.
