The main subjects dealt with are emerging themes, plant immunity, ecological and epidemiological issues, pathophysiology, pathogen biology and disease management. The opening chapter is an autobiographical sketch o f a molecular plant pathologist, Nickolas J. Panopoulos. His research career bloomed in USA during the period when the era o f molecular plant pathology sprouted from developments in recombinant DNA. The personal reflection o f his accomplishments along with the growth o f molecular phytobacteriology have been admirably described. Youngsters can derive inspiration from this presentation.
