The Interaction Mechanism of Environmental Pollution and Sustainable Development of Regional Economy

The results of the empirical test also offer some findings. The continuous increase of the investment shares in treating the environmental pollution, to some extent, has some negative impact on the economic growth, but it’s the inevitable price for implementing sustainable development. However, if we consider the effectiveness of the environment to the consumers, the increase of the investment in treating environmental pollution is favorable of the long-term economic development. In the future, we still need to strengthen the control of environmental pollution and increase the efficiency of treatment as well as try to reverse the serious situation of environmental deterioration fundamentally. The measuring results also show that the intervention of local government brings much resistance for the treatment of environmental pollution and the change of the sustainable development concept has to start from the transformation of the concept of political achievement of the local officials. Therefore, we need to intensify the assessment of indicators on the social environment in the future evaluation of social and economic development and give more weights to relevant indicators as well as change the administration inertia and governing ideas of local governments.
