Fabrication and Evaluating the Performance of Small Size Wind Turbine Blades with R21 and R22 Profiles
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Wind energy is a non polluting cost effective renewable energy source. Cost of generating power from wind has come down and at the same time, the demand for small size wind turbines is greatly increasing. In this paper the fabrication and testing the blades for stiffness, blade deflections are analyzed. Wind turbine blades are developed in R21 and R22 profiles using three variations in material compositions like fiber glass polyester resin, fiberglass polyester resin sandwiched with central beam made of UV hard foam and fiberglass with epoxy resin sandwiched with a central beam made of UV hard foam. Experimental results can be compared with FEA results for better blade model identification exclusively for small wind turbine system.
