The principal object of the invention is to provide a new and improved liquid mixing device which is of simple structure, but operates with efficiency, effectiveness and reliability. This work presents the design, fabrication and testing of and integrated mixer/valve and a method for determining its mixing performance. The method correlates the mixing time to a quantitatively measurable and observable. We represent modeling and experimental results using this method.

Liquid mixing with required ratio systems for chemical and biological analysis often include mixer for sample preparation. A key issue for all mixing subsystems is the measurement of their mixing performance - the mixing time. In this work, the designing of a micro fabricated liquid mixer/valve as a test vehicle with which mixing study was conducted.
