Fuzzy Logic based Five Level Inverter for Photovoltaic Systems
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel inverters have gained much attention in the field of the medium voltage and high power applications because of their many advantages such as their low voltage stress on power switches, low harmonic distortion and EMI output. This paper presents the performance of a single phase five level cascaded H-Bridge multilevel inverter topology employing multicarrier pulse width modulation for photovoltaic cell. The multicarrier PWM control is based on adaptive fuzzy logic to control MOSFET switch of cascaded H-Bridge inverter. This inverter topology magnifies the fundamental output voltage with reduction in total harmonic distortion. The proposed technique uses the fuzzy logic control to achieve fast transient response and improves the power factor and efficiency. This method can be easily extended to an m-level inverter .The performance has been studied by MATLAB/Simulink.
