The Ministry of Manpower in Oman banned many jobs to be worked by expatriate employees. The managements in those organizations will be under pressure to assign those jobs to local employees who are still not capable to work on those vacant positions due to the lack of experiences and shortage of skills. The article highlights some other challenges such as geographical locations of some organizations and the mismatch between the outcomes from higher education institutes and the job requirement. Finally it recommends that organizations must design and implement long term retention plans to recruit junior local staff who are capable to learn and develop which will make them able to carry out further jobs and responsibilities in the future.
