-Around 2.21% of the Indian population has some kind of disability which means 26.8 million people in both rural and urban areas of India are disabled. People with lower half paralyzed need some kind of support for their movement. This work aims at developing a novel light weight and easy to use wheelchair controlled by hand gestures. With Accelerometer as a sensor interfaced with arduino has been used to develop a simplified prototype to help physically disabled people in moving from one place to another by giving directions with their hands. This kind of wheelchair will add comfort and make their life much easier.
