Image compression and denoising techniques having vital role in computer and communication applications. Storage space and data rate should be optimum for cost effective communication. In this work performance of conventional wavelet transform for image compression using different biorthogonal wavelet coefficients is compared with the corresponding wavelet packet transform, in which wavelet packet transform performed greater performance for image compression.

Abstract

Image compression and denoising techniques having vital role in computer and communication applications. Storage space and data rate should be optimum for cost effective communication. In this work performance of conventional wavelet transform for image compression using different biorthogonal wavelet coefficients is compared with the corresponding wavelet packet transform, in which wavelet packet transform performed greater performance for image compression.
