Comparative Analysis and Earlier Detection of Cholesterol Based on the Measurement of Various Lipid Level Deposits in the Eye

Cholesterol is an essential part of each cell in the human body. It is necessary for new cells to form and older cells to repair themselves after injury. Cholesterol contains the majority of particles Lipoproteins, which can be further classified as Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL). LDL is the major cause of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and painless visual obscuration in the eye. There are many techniques to detect cholesterol in conventional laboratory and non-invasive methods. Earlier detection of cholesterol plays a vital role in prevention of CAD and painless visual obscuration in the eye. This can be achieved only through non-invasive methods. In this paper, existing conventional laboratory and Non-invasive cholesterol detection methods are compared and analysed based on their statistics and demerits. A Non-invasive method of cholesterol detection based on the diagnosis of various levels of lipid deposition in the eye is also proposed with the help of this analysis. This proposed method detects various levels of cholesterol using iris segmentation and Gray level slicing technique. Cholesterol levels are measured based on the mean value of segmented iris region. In order to achieve better segmentation results, specular noises are removed by average mean based image processing technique.
