Image compression is an important problem of digital era. There are various algorithm exist for compression of images, video and audio data. The proposed work describes the algorithms for image compression using transform coding method. We propose a compression technique based on modification on discrete cosine transform and wavelet transform. In proposed method it discard less significant information in image data in order to achieve further compression with minimal effect on output image quality. The proposed method uses a hybrid approach between DCT transformation and wavelet based image compression approaches. The wavelet-based compression scheme contains transformation, quantization, and lossless entropy codingThe experimental analysis show the compressed method gives better quality of image and lower in size.
