The objective of this work is to provide most significant content descriptive parameters to identify and classify the kidney stones with ultrasound scan. Detection of renal calculus presence in the early stages of growth is beneficial in the appropriate management of the condition that can take place, with options that include removal of calculus and diet modification. Nine different types of renal calculi have been identified based on their chemical composition. HONDA make ultrasound scanner is used to acquire renal stone image of phantom design using balloon filled with water and renal stones of different chemical compositions, suspended in it. These acquired images are then analyzed using MATLAB and SPSS for identifying various content descriptive features including first and second order statistical parameters which confirm classification efficiency of more than 85%. The analysis shows that these features significantly enhance diagnosis and provides the possibility of developing computer-aided diagnosis system.
