Determination of process parameters and maximum utility of resources are the two main concerns while designing the manufacturing process for products. The process parameters affect the final product shape and aesthetic look; whereas utility refers to the output. In order to enhance surface micro-finish and geometrical accuracy of functional surfaces, it is necessary to optimized process parameters. Honing is an abrasive machining process that can produce very exact results regarding geometry, form and surface quality of the honed work piece. It is mainly used as the final finishing operation for ready-made bores and has to meet high demands regarding process stability and repeatability. As it can create a high ratio of bearing contact area to total area together with a high surface quality it is often used for highly stressed parts. The interface between honing stone and work piece and the movement of the honing stone are very important for the process. Study is made to understand the optimum process parameters that affect the outcomes of Honing process. It was found that the parameters such as the honing speed, honing feed pressures – rough and finish, grit size, play a predominant role on the quality of surface produced.
