The piano is particularly important instrument for sound synthesis application because of many reasons. First, the piano has a large prominence in western music, while it is large, heavy, and expensive. Thus, there is a great demand for an electronic substitute for home or stage use. Lot of research has gone into modeling of piano using various techniques, but the work is by no means complete and the best and efficient model for piano is yet to be devised. This paper deals with artificial sound production of piano using a computer or simply computer music synthesis. In this work, piano notes are synthesized using the LPC and Wavelet Transform technique to produce synthetic tones that sound very similar to original sound. The goal of this work is to devise a synthesis model which will produce best sound quality with excellent compression ratio.
