This paper presents a method of communication for security systems by utilizing the acoustic channel. The system consists of a transmitter, which acts as the key. The transmitter contains a code which is ASK modulated and converted to audio signal and is played with a speaker. This sound is intercepted by the receiver with a microphone, which is the security system. The receiver extracts the data from the audio signal and performs necessary processing on it. Acoustic data communication provides flexibility and allows reuse of existing hardware that simply has a speaker and/or microphone. The proposed system is simulated and the results are provided.

Abstract

This paper presents a method of communication for security systems by utilizing the acoustic channel. The system consists of a transmitter, which acts as the key. The transmitter contains a code which is ASK modulated and converted to audio signal and is played with a speaker. This sound is intercepted by the receiver with a microphone, which is the security system. The receiver extracts the data from the audio signal and performs necessary processing on it. Acoustic data communication provides flexibility and allows reuse of existing hardware that simply has a speaker and/or microphone. The proposed system is simulated and the results are provided.
