Minimum Energy Consumption Channel Allocation Scheme in LR-WPAN

IEEE 802.15.4 is uniquely designed for low data rate wireless personal area network. The IEEE 802.15.4, targets the application such as industrial, agriculture, vehicular and medical sensors. Further, these devices generally relay on battery power and have a limited energy for their operation. For allocating the channel device uses CSMA/CA protocol. Collision accounts for retransmission of the packets that consumes energy thereby reducing the throughput and life time of the network. Lifetime is defines as time until first node drain out due to battery. In this paper, it is proposed that each node has its own slot for allocating the channel which eliminates the collisions of data packets from different devices. For accessing the time slot device uses its unique address filed. The Simulation results show that packet delivery ratio has been increased, packet drop has been decreased, It is also observed from the results that energy consumption of all the nodes is also less in comparison to original CSMA-CA method. The simulations have been performed using IEEE 802.15.4, ns-2 module.
