In this paper, (i) Shielding effectiveness of shielded enclosure (ii) radiation from PCB with and without the shield are analyzed using computational electromagnetic software tool-FEKO. Electromagnetic shielding involves shielding components from electric and magnetic fields and also preventing electronic devices from sending them out. In order to achieve electromagnetic compatibility, mainly with respect to radiated emission and radiated immunity it is required to have a good shielding effectiveness for the equipment enclosure. Shielding Effectiveness is defined as the ratio of the input field of the unshielded load to that of the shielded one. The shielded enclosure is modeled with a single aperture in x-z plane and shielding effectiveness of this enclosure is obtained for various incident angle. The PCB is modeled with a ground plane at the bottom and a trace at the top and radiations coming out from this PCB are obtained at various directions. Then the PCB is kept inside the shielded enclosure and the emission from PCB is obtained at various directions. In this case, the PCB acts as the load. The importance of electromagnetic shielding is revealed through this paper.
