Reliability and Availability are very important factors for wired/wireless networks. Because of advances in Internet, there is a huge demand for reliable (99.999%) network. Now a day’s Ipv4 address pool is exhausted so implementing IPv6 has become must. Implementing directly the advanced network infrastructure overnight is highly impossible and not so economic. So lot transition mechanisms are proposed by IETF to move on for next generation computer network gradually, which is more economic and effective. Today most of the organizations implemented reliable network by implementing many router redundant protocols such as FHRP, GLBP and HSRP. In this paper, our attempt is to have IPv6 based Infrastructure for Medium and Small enterprise network by simply configuring MTM mechanism with the above protocols to achieve reliable network. A concept of converting multihomed edge node to act as pointer, which implement/configure reliable connectivity with the transition mechanism for small and medium size enterprise network. Overall it’s our attempt to implement an economic and reliable next generation network.
