Solar energy is the easiest form of energy available among all the renewable energy resources. The maximum output can be obtained by directing the solar photovoltaic (PV) towards the high intensity of the sunlight using tracking system. The tracking system allows the PV panel to face the sunlight at 900 in which the maximum energy is produced. This paper discuss about design, construction, prototype and implementation of single axis solar tracking system, using LDR (light depended resistor) as light detecting sensor. As the LDR is placed over the PV panel, when it is about to face low intensity the relay circuit closes and actuate the DC motor to position the PV towards maximum intensity of sunlight. Thus the efficiency of solar cell can be improved.
