Hybrid Active Filter for Power Quality Improvement Using Solar Inverter
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Most of the issues created in power systems are due to the non-linear characteristics and fast switching of power electronic equipment. The issues created are voltage sag, swell, harmonics, noise etc. In order to solve these problems hybrid active filters have been develop to improve power quality issues and to mitigate the harmonics and provide reactive power compensation. They consist of passive filter in series with active filter. The main advantages of the filter is that it require less DC link voltage and is cost effective as compared to other filters.
In this work both active power control and harmonic current control of active power filter to compensate harmonics by nonlinear load to improve power quality .The systems are modeled by using SIMULINK in MATLAB and performance is observed with and without connecting to controller. The simulation results reveal that the proposed method of hybrid filter is the better solution for improving power quality.
