Performance Evaluation of Diverse Optical Amplifiers through TWDM-Next Generation Passive Optical Networks (NG-PON) Configuration

Optical communication is one of the well-organized modes of transmission which employs the fiber as medium and the light as carrier. It plays key role in accessing the broadband networks even in long haul distance. A fiber link interfaces the central office which provides services to multiple users over a single fiber link. To improve the execution of broadband networks, this communication implements Passive Optical Network (PON) technologies. ITU-T and FSAN group are recognized Time Division Wavelength Multiplexing (TWDM) as the essential arrangement to Next Generation PON (NG-PON). NGPON-2 is considered as the long term era of optical access networks, which permits the utilization of power splitters placed in Optical Distribution Unit. TWDM is largely deployed in NGPON-2 access network because of its larger split ratio and higher data rate transmission. This paper assesses execution of TWDM-PON based on various types of optical amplifiers performed on OptiSystem software. The statistical analysis of simulation results are based on Eye pattern, BER and Q-factor were obtained for various optical amplifiers.
