This paper represents an end-to-end baseband model of the physical layer of a WiMAX network. MIMO-OFDM systems have been adopted in WiMAX which enable high data rate transmission over multipath fading channel. This model also illustrates adaptive modulation and coding over no fading, flat-fading and dispersive multipath fading channel whereby the simulation varies the data rate dynamically. The performance of WiMAX OFDM system physical layer in terms of BER and PER are evaluated using adaptive modulation technique in no fading, flat- fading and dispersive multipath fading channel. The WiMAX OFDM system is designed using MATLAB Simulink and the performances are evaluated. The simulation results show that maximum data rate and minimum values of BER and PER are obtained in 64QAM compared to other modulation techniques.
