Analysis of PAPR Reduction Techniques in OFDM System
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Multicarrier modulations like Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) suffer from large Peak-to-Average-Power Ratio (PAPR) which cause challenges to the RF front-end. Large fluctuations of OFDM signal amplitude represents a major drawback for amplification in mobile communication systems. Large peak power leads to inefficient use of High Power Amplifiers (HPAs) or decreases the system performance. There are various techniques to reduce the PAPR in OFDM system. Among these techniques, in this paper, Active Constellation Extension (ACE) and Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) are considered and new algorithm has been proposed to improve the PAPR reduction performance of these existing techniques. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms give better PAPR reduction when compared with the conventional techniques in terms of Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function (CCDF).
