Wireless sensor networks have successfully been deployed in different fields for various applications including habitat monitoring, environmental monitoring, structural monitoring, health monitoring and more. In this paper toxic gases like carbonmonoxide, methane and hydrogen sulphide from vehicles are monitored using gas sensors. The information from the sensors are collected by Zigbee wireless network and then transmitted to theremote file transfer protocol (FTP) server with public network IP on the internet through General packet radio service (GPRS) network by GPRS module which is controlled by coordinator node. The monitoring center gets the data and analyses the toxic gases for various fuels used in automobiles. Results are provided for relative experts and decision makers.
