PACC:Probabilistic Approach for Congestion Control in Wireless Sensor Network
Subscribe/Renew Journal
A large number of sensors transmit information to sink node in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Abundance of information transmitted in WSN causes congestion either in the node or in the network. Congestion in WSN needs to be controlled in order to improve Quality of Service (QoS). Improving QoS is in terms of throughput, packet loss, packet delay etc.. This challenge can be achieved by using a probabilistic approach for both detection and control of congestion. Probabilistic Approach for Congestion Control (PACC) is designed to detect congestion with the help of buffer size and data rate. PACC detects congestion before the occurrence of congestion. In PACC, a dynamic rate adaptation scheme is implemented which controls congestion in every node. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can well resolve the problem of congestion and the improvement in the performance of sensor networks.
