A Study on Green Networking
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Green networking refers to processes that can be used to optimize networking, reduce energy consumption and make it more efficient. All processes such as conserving bandwidth or any other process that will ultimately reduce energy use and, indirectly, cost comes under green networking. Major concern in wired networking is Reduction of unnecessary energy consumption because of the potential economic benefits and of its expected environmental impact. These issues are termed as “green networking” which relate to embedding energy-awareness, in the devices and also in the protocols of networks. The current Internet usage, designed over 40 years ago, is facing abnormal challenges in many aspects in the future. Our future Internet, though there will be more than 600 million users, the world is about 10% of the way there, and there is a lot of growth to come.
