A Comparative Study of Type A Behavior Pattern between Hypertensive and Hypotensive

This study was aimed at determining whether there are differences in type Abehavior pattern between hypertensives and hypotensives. From a small community sample of adults from Noida, 100 individuals having hypertension and having clinic Blood Pressure (BP)> or 140/90 mm hg were selected and compared with a sex and age matched group of 100 individuals with hypotensives- BP reading under 90/60 (moderate hypotension) were tested on measures of type A behavior pattern derived from standardized questionnaire. Results of independent t test revealed significant differences between hypertensives and hypotensives and were in line with the hypothesis. The null hypothesis stand rejected and hypertensives were found to be significantly higher (high score) on type A behavior pattern comparatively than hypotensives.
