Efficacy of Social-emotional Learning Intervention on Emotional Maturity among Migrant Worker's Children

In order to pursue seasonal or contractual or part-time work in various sectors people who relocate from one geographical area to another geographical area within the state or country are known as migrant workers. Adolescents who dislocate and involve in the migration process are more defenseless against behavioral, emotional, psychological, and social problems. This affects the adolescents, how they feel, think, make decisions, and interact with the world. The development of adolescents is adversely affected by the likelihood of psychological stress brought on by migration. During thisstage of life, individuals have difficulty dealing with uncertaintiesin school and social life, and they will require social and emotionalsupport to overcome the crisis. Social-emotional learning (SEL) would help them navigate these difficulties by improving their skills and mindsets. The present study aims at implementing social-emotional learning intervention to enhance emotional maturity among migrant workers children. Asample of 117migrant workers children aged between 10 - 14 years were selected to participate in the study using the purposive sampling method which includes 58 adolescentsin the experimental group and 59 in the control group. The participants completed the emotional maturity scale developed by (Pandey, Anshu, & Mathur, 2020). Statistic technique paired sample t-testwas adopted to find outmean differences among the groups and determine the significant difference between the pretest and post-test.The findings ofthe presentstudy indicated a significant improvementfrom the pretest to the posttest in dimensions of emotionalmaturity amongmigrant workers children.There was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. The social-emotional learning intervention was found to be effective forthemigrantworkers children.The findingsimply thatthe intervention has been a directsolution for adolescents andcanbe implementedinschoolsforthebettermentof adolescents.
