Modern wind turbine technology has been a great improvement over the past few decades, leading to large scale wind power penetration. The increasing penetration of wind power resulted in emphasizing the importance of reliable and stable operation of power systems, especially in an isolated small-scale power system. This paper describes the impact of full-load converter interfaced wind generators on power system oscillations. Eigenvalue analysis and participation factors are carried out under variant wind power penetration levels to investigate the small signal stability of the isolated small-scale power system in Penghu Island.

Abstract

Modern wind turbine technology has been a great improvement over the past few decades, leading to large scale wind power penetration. The increasing penetration of wind power resulted in emphasizing the importance of reliable and stable operation of power systems, especially in an isolated small-scale power system. This paper describes the impact of full-load converter interfaced wind generators on power system oscillations. Eigenvalue analysis and participation factors are carried out under variant wind power penetration levels to investigate the small signal stability of the isolated small-scale power system in Penghu Island.
