Image Segmentation:A Review on Different Techniques

Image segmentation is the process of extracting object from background. A number of techniques are used for segmentation from very beginning in literature, out of which the segmentation based on Graph Cut methods, Super Pixel based methods & Saliency based methods are advanced techniques followed for segmentation. Graph based methods convert the entire image into a graph consisting of object and background and a cut on that graph separates the object from the background. Where as in superpixel based methods divide the entire image into superpixels and using a clustering algorithm the superpixels are clustered so as to achieve an object cluster and the object is extracted. Saliency based methods extract the most visually attention region to extract the object from the image.
