Abstract

Recognition of Handwritten text has been one of the active and challenging areas of research in the field of image processing and pattern recognition. It is the mechanical or electronic translation of images of handwritten, typewritten or printed text into machine-editable text. It has numerous applications which include, reading aid for blind, bank cheques and conversion of any hand writtendocument into structural text form. In our approach we first derived the character matrix by using touchpad and necessary hardware. We have followed template matching method for finding the similarity between the hand written characters and actual characters. We have used correlation technique for calculating errors from the obtained results. All our experiment is carried out on Odia characters.
