In this study we have considered 9 Warren truss each with a distinct span and height and each truss was subjected to 9 loading conditions and 81 cases were formulated. Each case was optimized to get a target stress of 100 MPa in each member and the steel Take Off was calculated. This steel take off was compared with other span and height combinations of the Warren truss for the same loading condition and the mass used of the steel was compared. In this way optimisation results in the efficient utilization of material and hence reducing the cost of the structure.Keywords

In this paper the displacement behavior of single span pre stressed concrete beams have been studied numerically by different methods. Six pre stress concrete beams with parabolic curve cable profile for different amount of pre stressing force were analyzed by Macaulay’s method, Matrix method (STAAD.PRO) and FEA method. The results of all these three methods are compared with each other.Keywords

In this study effects of different water proofers on compressive strength of cement concrete has been made using experiments. Total 108 cubes were cast using normal, 60% of 20 mm and 40% of 10 mm size of coarse aggregates having three water proofer Dr. fixit, Roff, Aqua Roff proportion of 4ml/kg cement. NDT of the cast cubes using rebound hammer and UPV have been also carried out. All the cubes were tested for ultimate load using compression testing machine and compressive strengths of the cubes are calculated. Based on these data, comparative studies have been carried out to quantify the effect of different water proofers on the compressive strength of the concrete. From these data, salient conclusions are drawn.Keywords

Hyperbolic cooling tower is a tall and hyperboloidal shaped device having open topped which is used in power plants, nuclear and electrical plants to cool the water. Now-a-days the power plants are the major requirements of society but having a drawback that heat escapes out from the power plants in the form of water can be harmful to the environment. A survey says that only U S industries use approximately 500 billion gallons of water a day, so that hot water can either mix to the water streams or can be recycled. But if water recycled to the environment it can be harmful to the water species, and if the water is recycled to the power plants then it is not possible to convert the hot water into steam, so cooling tower is the right choice to cool the hot water and reuse the water. In this study, cooling tower is analyzed under the effect of earthquake forces using STAAD.Pro software. The parameters considered are top diameter and height of cooling with constant thickness under different earthquake zones of India. Various parameters on the basis of which results are analyzed are maximum von Mises stress, maximum principal stress, maximum shear stress and maximum deflection. Based on these results, salient conclusions are drawn.Keywords
