An edge may be defined as a set of connected pixels that forms a boundary between two disjoints regions. Edge detection refers to the process of identifying and locating sharp discontinuities in an image. Edge detection process significantly reduces the amount of data and filters out useless information, while preserving the essential structural properties in an image. Since computer vision involves the recognition and classification of objects in an image, edge detections is a vital tool. In this paper, the main aim is to study edge detection process based on different techniques.
