Abstract

Blocks provide lateral stability to structures. Some structural failures can be traced to poor/low quality blocks. These blocks fail by shearing. The shear strength of sand-laterite blocks was determined in this work. Modified regression theory proposed by Osadebe was used to derive a model for prediction of shear strength of sand-laterite blocks. There is no significant difference between the experimentally observed result and the results predicted by the model. Hence the model proved adequate.
