The aim of the study was to determine the effects of three modalities of resistance circuit training on speed, muscular strength, muscular strength and endurance of collegiate male kabaddi players. Sixty male kabaddi players were randomly selected from Vellalar college of engineering, erode aged 17 –21 years, volunteered to participate in the study. Subjects were assigned into four groups namely Experimental Group-I (n=15, RTG group) underwent resistance training with rest group, Experimental Group-II (n=15; RCTG Group) underwent resistance circuit training without rest group, Experimental Group- III (n=15, CRTRCTG Group) underwent combination of resistance training and resistance circuit training with and without rest group and control group (n=15; CG) did not under go any specific training programme. The subjects were evaluated with pre and post test of 8-week training program. The subjects were analyzed by using t ratio to find the mean difference between pre to post test of each group, analysis of variance, and analysis of co-variance, Scheffe’s post hoc test were used to find out the mean difference among the groups. Results indicated that the health related physical fitness variables including Speed (p<0.05), muscular strength, (p<0.05), muscular strength and endurance (p<0.01) were significantly improved in all the experimental groups and there were no significant improvement in control group.

The purpose of the study was to find out the effective approach through combinations of strength, endurance and skill training program on male basketball players. To achieve the purpose of the study, 60 male basketball players were selected from Excel group of Institutions Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, India. The selected subjects age ranged between from 18 – 25 years. The subjects were tested by modified sit ups (Muscular Strength and Endurance), Vertical Jump (Explosive Power). Pre-test and post test data were collected before and after of the twelve week of training period. In this competitive world own country had come up in sports recent days, many of them had focused on young achiever in sports. The players need good basic fitness for his or her future sports and games achievement. Based on this, the following performance related variables were selected for this present study. ‘t’ratio and Anova was applied to find out the significant difference between the pre and post test in the selected variables. The results reveal the training programme showed significant improvement on the selected dependent variables of male basketball players.

The purpose of the study was to find the effective approach through strength, endurance and skill training program combinations on male basketball players to develop skill and fitness related variables. To achieve the purpose of the study, 60 male basketball players were selected from Excel group of Institutions, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, India. The subjects age ranged between from 18 – 25 years and the subjects were tested by flexibility (sit and reach) and dribbling (Johnson Basket Ball Test), pre-test was taken before the training and the post test data was collected after the completion of the twelve-week training periods. The subjects assigned as random group design in which the first group (n=20, SES group) underwent strength and endurance training with skill training, the second group (n=20; SE group) will be performing strength and endurance training without skill training, the third group (n=20, CON group) did not practice any specific training, but they allowed to play regular practice without any specific workouts. Based on this study ‘t’ ratio was applied to find out the significant difference between the pre and post tests in the selected variables. The results reveal the training programme showed significant improvement on the selected dependent variables on flexibility and dribbling of male basketball players.

The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of volleyball specific training and skill training programme on the development of flexibility and muscular strength and endurance on the Higher Secondary Level School boys of Kolar District, Karnataka. Eight male volleyball players of Kolar District, Karnataka were selected as subject for the present study. All the subjects were in good health and they participated in regular volleyball practice. The age of the subjects ranged between 15 and 17 years. Eighty male volleyball players of Kolar district were divided into four equal groups on the basis of random method. The four groups were assigned as experimental group 1 (Volleyball Specific Resistance Training with Skill Training, experimental groups 2 (Volleyball Specific Resistance Training without Skill training, experimental group 3(General Resistance Training without Skill Training and one control group. Experimental groups underwent specific resistance and skill training programme for a period of twelve weeks and the control group did not practise any specific training programme. The level of significance to test the obtained ‘t’ value was fixed at 0.05 level of confidence which was considered to be adequate for the purpose of the study. The ANCOVA statistical technique was used to find the mean difference between the groups on physical variables of flexibility and muscular strength and endurance. The results of the study revealed a significant group × test interaction (p < 0.05). Follow-up analyses indicated that while group differences in physical variables existed among the three groups of the pre-test. In the post test all the experimental groups were found to have significantly (p < 0.05) better performance on the physical variables than the control group. The findings of the present study suggest that volleyball specific resistance training with skill training improved the physical variables on flexibility and muscular strength and endurance of higher secondary level school boys of Kolar district, Karnataka.

The present study was to find out the effects of Volleyball Specific Resistance Training and Skill Training Packages on the Development of leg explosive power and speed on the Higher Secondary level School boys of Kolar District, Karnataka. To examine the study, 80 higher secondary school boys were selected from Kolar district, Karnataka. The age group ranges from 15 to 17years. Subjects were equally divided into four equal groups namely three experimental groups and one control group. Experimental Group-I underwent Volleyball Specific Resistance Training with Skill Training, Experimental Group-II underwent Volleyball Specific Resistance Training without Skill Training, Experimental Group-III underwent General Resistance Training without Skill Training and group IV Control group did not participate in any special training programme. The training programme was scheduled for all the experimental and control group for twelve weeks, prior and after the training for the subjects, pre - test and post - test were conducted on speed (50 yards dash) and leg explosive power(vertical jump)were tested. The data collected from the subjects were statistically analyzed with ‘t’ ratio to find out significant difference among pre test to post test for experimental groups and control group. The analysis of variance and covariance was used to find out the mean difference among the groups. The result indicates that the Volleyball Specific Resistance Training with Skill Training had better improvement on speed and leg explosive power.

The purpose of the study was to find out the effects of silambam and karate with yogic training on agility and arm explosive power of collegiate male students. 100 students were selected from Karpagam University as a subject for this study. The subjects age: body weight; height (21 ± 2.3 years; 65 ± 5.4; 166 ± 4.5 cm) respectively. The subjects were randomly divided into five equal groups with each group consisting of 20 subjects. Group-I underwent silambam training, Group-II underwent karate training. Group – III underwent silambam with yogic training, Group – IV underwent karate with yogic training, Group- V act as control group, they were not given any special treatment. The experimental period was 12 weeks. Pre-test and posttest were taken before and after the training programme. The selected physical variables were agility and arm explosive power. During the intervention phase, a modified training program was offered by a well-trained silambam coaches to the experimental group under the supervision of the researcher at Karpagam University in Tamilnadu. All participants were encouraged to continue their standard physical activities and routine procedures. The intervention phase 12 weeks and included evening 60 minutes silambam, karate and yogic coaching classes for five days in a week. To find out the significant Effects of silambam karate with yogic training on selected physical variable of agility and arm explosive power. The ANCOVA statistical technique was used to find the mean difference between the groups on physical variables of agility and arm explosive power. The results of the study revealed a significant group × test interaction (p < 0.05). Follow-up analyses indicated that while group differences in physical variables existed between the five groups of the pre-test. In posttest all the experimental groups were found to have significantly (p < 0.05) better performance on the physical variables than the control group. The findings of the present study suggest that silambam with yogic training improved the physical variables on agility and arm explosive power of collegiate Male silambam players.
