In this paper, a new preamble structure is used for the timing synchronization of cognitive radio systems. The preamble is designed to achieve an improved performance by considerably reducing the broad plateau and thereby avoid the need for equalization. The estimation performance is also evaluated by computing the Correct Detection Rate (CDR). The application of the same is analysed in a cognitive radio environment.

Abstract

In this paper, a new preamble structure is used for the timing synchronization of cognitive radio systems. The preamble is designed to achieve an improved performance by considerably reducing the broad plateau and thereby avoid the need for equalization. The estimation performance is also evaluated by computing the Correct Detection Rate (CDR). The application of the same is analysed in a cognitive radio environment.
