Abstract
This short paper is written in the context of contradictions that arise in the capitalist periphery where diverse forces and pressures question the premise of a common cultural heritage. Culture is a living, evolving entity and cultural diversity is more than a rainbow of myriad beliefs, attitudes, languages, customs and ways of living. Cultural diversity is in fact the most permanent thing in the passage of evolution of different cultures.
